Importance Of Having A Support Group
During the different life seasons that come along it is important that an individual facing the various life seasons is surrounded by a support group. Whenever a terrible event comes up that threatens to affect the functionality of life the individual facing the traumatic life event could go through a series of emotions that threaten his or her emotional wellbeing. When you think of the various life situations that could arise and cause an interruption what are the first things that pop into your mind?
For most a traumatic event would include circumstances like a death in the family or the diagnosing of a chronic condition such as fibromyalgia. Being diagnosed with a condition such as fibromyalgia is a life altering diagnosis. Fibromyalgia is one of those odd conditions that is surrounded in mystery and leaves medical professionals baffled. Due to the lack of information surrounding the condition of fibromyalgia medical professionals often struggle with answers as to how to treat their patients that have been diagnosed with it.
Nothing More Than Theories
Fibromyalgia causes severe body-wide pain that feels as though it starts in the joints and spreads outward. When the pain of fibromyalgia intensifies to the point of debilitating than life takes on a whole new slew of issues and problems. Symptoms of fibromyalgia go much further than that just the body wide pain it can create further complications and conditions to develop. Fibromyalgia patients often complain of other complications like migraine headaches, endometriosis, depression, and chronic neck and back pain. Those that are unfortunate enough to develop fibromyalgia begin to have body wide pains and symptoms that prevent life from being remotely normal.
Theories of possible fibromyalgia causes is all that a medical professional can offer his or her patients at this time in history so it is important for the patient to understand and learn of the different theories that surround this painful chronic condition known as fibromyalgia.
One of the theories that medical professionals hold to is the theory that fibromyalgia can be developed or begin to manifest itself in the life of an individual after a traumatic event in one’s life. This traumatic event can be the result of emotional trauma such as the loss of a loved one, marital strife or difficulties of child rearing. Another factor of fibromyalgia development could have to do with physical trauma such as a personal injury or the result of an infection.
It is no secret that stress has been known to cause the body to become weak, lose sleep, gain weight and cause complications like depression so it is a theory that stress could lead to the prompting of fibromyalgia symptoms. If one is able to maintain a sleep schedule and lower his or her stress level than the theory is that the symptoms and pain of fibromyalgia could lessen.
As fibromyalgia strengthens the individual suffering with fibromyalgia slowly fades from an active individual into a pain ridden one. The body becomes nearly impossible to move and the medications used to treat the symptoms can cause side effects such as depression and weight gain. Every day becomes a battle and the fibromyalgia patient struggles to muster the energy to get out of the bed and take part in society so instead they begin to fade away from the outside world and become reclusive left o struggle in their own sea of pain.
What About Treatment
So is a person left to struggle with chronic pain for the remainder of his or her life? In all honesty this question is still in the process of being researched. There is no known cure for fibromyalgia and the various treatments used to treat the condition have proven to show some improvements in the pain level of a fibromyalgia patient.
